A young man identified as Bidhan Das alias Abhijit Das died at GBP hospital Agartala late on Thursday night after being bludgeoned mercilessly by his two neighbours– Tutan Das and his cousin Bimal Das. The incident took place in the Chanmura area of Agartala city, police said.
“The accused persons have used a Gamcha (towel) to wrap up pieces of tiles and rained in repeated blows on the victim leaving him grievously injured and bleeding profusely. The locals hearing the scream rushed to the spot and moved Bidhan to IGM hospital.
The doctors noticing his deteriorating health conditions referred him to GBP hospital where he died after a CT scan at around 3:30 am”, the investigating officer told the media. He said the deceased was supposed to be operated upon and the doctors were preparing to take him to the OT.
The police were informed on Friday morning regarding the incident and an FIR was lodged. No sooner had the police received the inputs than they rushed to the area and started investigation.
The houses of accused Tutan Das and his cousin Bimal Das were also raided but both of them were absconding.
Local sources said relations between Tutan and Bidhan were not good for long. Often they were found quarreling and last night’s verbal spat was also not new for the inhabitants of the locality.
But, all of a sudden, Tutan took up some tile pieces and wrapped them up in his Gamcha and started beating Bidhan using it. Bidhan, who was having nothing to prevent Tutan sustained serious injuries.
