Shehri Samridhi: Viksit Bharat needs empowered women, says Tripura CM

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday said that women play a crucial role in the progress of the country.

While inaugurating the 2nd State Level Shehri Samridhi Utsav organized by the Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission at Children’s Park in Agartala, he said, “Women play an essential role in the progress of the country. If women advance, the country will progress, society will improve, and Viksit Bharat will develop".

Dr Saha also said, "There was a time when it was accepted that women would only engage in household work. That perception is now a thing of the past. In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Marg Darshan, both the Central and State Governments are making efforts to advance women in every field. The present central and state governments are implementing various schemes and facilities for women's development”.

“Fifty percent of facilities are being provided to women in the distribution of government stalls. The state government has reduced stamp duty from 5 percent to 4 percent for women in the deed registration category,” he said.

The Chief Minister stated that social allowances are being given to about 4 lakh 10 thousand beneficiaries in the state.

“Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, about 3 lakh 11 thousand 163 people have been provided with free LPG gas connections in the state so far. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, more than 4 lakh houses have been built in the state,” he said.
