The Tripura government is taking significant steps toward transforming the state into a medical hub, with notable advancements in healthcare services. Addressing the 21st Annual State Conference of the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura at the Dasharath Deb Memorial Auditorium in Agartala on Saturday, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha highlighted the state’s progress in healthcare infrastructure and future plans to enhance medical facilities.
The Chief Minister announced that Tripura has successfully achieved milestones like conducting kidney transplants and is now gearing up for liver transplants in the near future.
“The government is committed to improving healthcare services and is taking initiatives to develop advanced health infrastructure. Plans are also in place to establish a super-specialty hospital to deliver state-of-the-art medical services to the people,” he remarked.
Dr. Saha acknowledged the dedication and expertise of the state’s healthcare professionals, noting that complex medical cases are now being handled locally, reducing the need to refer patients to facilities outside the state. This marks a significant reduction in the number of referral cases and demonstrates the growing capability of Tripura's medical sector.
Praising the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura, which has been at the forefront of health and social initiatives since its inception in 2002, the Chief Minister commended the organization’s contributions to public welfare. Awards were presented to members of the foundation in recognition of their outstanding contributions. The event also featured the unveiling of a commemorative souvenir by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
The conference saw insightful addresses from prominent figures, including Dr. K.P. Debnath, who delivered the welcome speech; Dibakar Debnath, General Secretary of the Hepatitis Foundation; Professor Dr. Sanjib Debbarma, Director of Health and Family Welfare; Dr. Pradip Bhowmik; and Dr. N.L. Bhowmik. Dr. Priyabrata Sinha concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
Highlighting the state government’s people-centric approach, the Chief Minister reiterated that enhancing healthcare remains a priority. “Tripura’s healthcare system is evolving rapidly. With the collective efforts of our medical fraternity and the government, we aim to provide accessible, modern healthcare to every citizen,” he affirmed.
