Stir for 'Greater Tipraland' to start after winning Tripura District Council Polls: Pradyot

TIPRA Chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Wednesday reiterated that TIPRA would win in upcoming Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Polls and also said that  his party after forming the council would begin a movement for “Greater Tipraland '' from the next day in the national capital.

Debbarma said this while addressing a rally at TTAADC headquarters Khumulwng in support of the six candidates of TIPRA motha who were contesting polls from the adjoining constituencies also said that there would be no compromise with the call of “Greater Tipraland”.

“For the last 70 years, political powers divided us and prevented us from coming under the same roof. Sometimes they divided us in the name of tribes and sub-tribes and sometimes they put up political walls in between the indigenous people of Tripura, in the name of Congress, CPM, INPT and IPFT. Every time the Tiprasa sacrificed for the leaders and the leaders were found roaming with red light. No leader ever sacrifices anything for their people, they sold the Dafa after sitting at the helm of power”, Debbarman told the gathering.

Speaking to media persons prior to his speech, Pradyot said, “we are going to win the elections without any difficulties. And, as I say every time, I want unity in the state. My idea of unity is not against anyone - it's just that I don’t want to divide people but unite all. I feel the voices of indigenous people are being scuttled and there is a need of strong independent voices that speak for the state, for the country but as well as the indigenous people of Tripura”.

On being asked about the political attacks coming from different quarters, he said, “see people will attack you when you become a threat to them. If the biggest political party of the country attacks me, I must have done something right. If the oldest political party—Congress attacks me then I must have done something right. The same applies for the CPM. They may be uncomfortable with the fact that a third voice is coming”.

Replying to a query regarding TTAADC, he said, “Let us come to power, we will come up with a white paper”. Speaking about the core ideology of “Greater Tipraland”, he said, “my view for Greater Tipraland is not to break the state into pieces but to include each and everyone. BJP has the core ideology of Ram Mandir-  does it mean they have nothing to do with development and all. We will certainly work for the people and ensure that they get everything as per the constitutional guarantees”.

He also added, his idea is to offer TTAADC an elected council that will have transparency, financial accountability and corruption-free governance.
