Sudip not attacked, it's a drama politics, says Tripura ICA Minister
There was no attack on him rather he went there to attack. Then he staged a drama after he failed in his bid, Tripura ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said in Agartala on Monday while reacting on alleged attack on Congress candidate of 6-Agartala seat, Sudip Roy Barman at Abhoynagar area last night.
The ICA Minister vehemently rebuffed the allegations leveled against him by the Congress leaders over the attack on Roy Barman. He was speaking in a press conference held in Party office in Agartala on Monday. He said the last night's incident was a part of conspiracy hatched to malign the BJP.
He dubbed last night’s incident as a ‘Drama Politics’ and said, Roy Barman resorted to such Dramabaji as he had realized his eminent defeat. His drama politics aimed at garnering sympathy votes like what Mamata Banerjee did in Bengal before the Assembly Polls there.
“Nevermind, Mamata Banerjee was defeated from Nandigram – this indicates drama politics does not pay. People of 6-Agartala will also give him a befitting reply through ballots and make BJP candidate Dr Ashok Sinha victorious by a huge margin”, Chowdhury said.
Narrating the last night’s incident, the ICA Minister said, Roy Barman along with armed people from other parts of the State went to Abhoynagar to create a nuisance and chaos there. After getting the Information, I and other BJP Karyakartas rushed to the spot. Meantime, large posse of Police too reached there.
Sushanta Chowdhury said he approached Roy Barman and urged him with folded hands to leave the places with outsiders.
“I have personally spoken to him and urged him to go home as whatever tension is taking shape there I would look after and the central armed forces deployed in the area, so nothing to worry”, Chowdhury told the media and added, “Suddenly, he fell on the ground. There was no clash when he fell on the ground.
When asked about injury marks on Roy Barman’s face, Chowdhury said he did not see any such marks after he fell over.
Chowdhury, however, said one of the BJP supporters sustained injuries before he and others reached the spot. To this end, BJP lodged an FIR against the Congress activists.
