In the Shyam Sundar Co Jewelers' Chandra Memorial League Football, played at Umakanta Mini Stadium, Ramkrishna Club defeated Blood Mouth Club 2-0 on Tuesday evening. With this win, Ramkrishna Club secured the second position jointly in the points table with three points from two matches.
Egiye Chalo Sangha is currently leading the points table with four points from two matches in the super four round. Both Blood Mouth and Ramkrishna today needed a win to stay in the title race.
Blood Mouth virtually lost due to Ramkrish Club's strategy. The team's reliable striker, Suro Khambai, received a red card in the previous match and was unavailable for this match. So, the coach brought Gobindas from the wing to the midfield. This proved to be a game-changer. Gobindas scored a goal and also led the midfield.
Ramkrishna started the match with a 4-1-3-2 formation, giving them a slight advantage. In the 14th minute, Ramkrishna Club scored a goal. From the right flank, Tej Kumar's cross was headed in brilliantly by Gobindas to give his team a 1-0 lead. Later, Amit Jamatia and Kartik Orang of Blood Mouth got a few chances but failed to score. As a result, the winning team went into the break leading 1-0.
At the beginning of the second half, Blood Mouth's coach Swapna Kumar Biswas tried to put pressure on the opponents by making three substitutions. But due to a lack of an effective goalscorer, they couldn't capitalize on the chances they got.
On the other hand, Ramkrishna Club played excellent midfield-based football. As a result, they scored a goal in the 40th minute of this half. A powerful shot taken by Tej Kumar hit Blood Mouth's Bulemni's hand inside their own box, and referee Dhanish Shah awarded a penalty. From the spot kick, Olen Singh doubled the lead.
Finally, Ramkrishna Club won 2-0 and earned three valuable points.
