October 2nd marks Swachh Bharat Diwas, a significant day dedicated to honoring the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his birth anniversary.
This day serves as a reminder of the ongoing commitment to cleanliness and hygiene across India. Since 2017, the Government of India has initiated a fortnight of “Swachhata Hi Sewa” (SHS) leading up to this important occasion, aimed at promoting volunteerism and collective action for a cleaner environment.
This year, the government is also celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission, a flagship program designed to enhance sanitation and hygiene across the nation.
To commemorate this significant milestone, the SHS 2024 campaign is being observed from September 14 to October 1, 2024, under the theme “Swabhav Swachhata – Sanskaar Swachhata.”
The celebrations will culminate in the Swachh Bharat Diwas event on October 2, 2024, aimed at facilitating large-scale advocacy and citizen participation in cleanliness initiatives.
In alignment with this national initiative, officials from Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) took part in a Walkathon on September 27, 2024, at 7:00 AM.
The event underscored their commitment to promoting cleanliness and environmental awareness across the state.
TGB Chairman Satyendra Singh, along with General Managers Santosh Kumar Rawat and Anup Kumar Saha, led the initiative, showcasing the bank’s dedication to adopting various awareness programs related to Swachhata.
The participation of other officials from the Head Office further exemplified a collective effort towards enhancing cleanliness in the region.
The Walkathon not only served as a physical manifestation of the bank’s commitment to cleanliness but also aimed to inspire citizens to actively engage in cleanliness drives within their communities.
By fostering a culture of hygiene and sanitation, TGB hopes to contribute to a cleaner and healthier Tripura, reinforcing the spirit of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
