Thick fog blankets Agartala, traffic movement distrubed

Dense fog descended over Agartala, the capital city of Tripura on Sunday night lowering the visibility limits and affecting traffic movement. The situation turned highly blurred from after 8 pm in the evening and continued to worsen with time. However, sky remained clear.

The sudden fog reduced the visibility in roads making it quite impossible to have a clear indication of roads. The roadside shops disappeared and it became impossible to figure out as to what was coming from the opposite direction for the drivers.

Although fog began to increase across the city, mercury did not record any drastic dip. As per the statistics of Indian Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature on Sunday was recorded 10 degree celsius whereas the maximum remained at 24 degree celsius.

As per the IMD report, the fog and mists would continue in Agartala until January 28 next. “The fog and mists will appear in the morning and later the sky will be cleared. Later in the night the fog might come back soon but in larger parts of time the sky shall remain clear”, said a source posted at the meteorological department.

As per his predictions, January 29 and 30 next are going to be foggy all day long. However, this year, the arrival of winter has been considered to be late from previous years. After January 15 alst the cold waves seemed to have intensified and people have been seen enjoying the chill with hot tea and in the warmth of a fire.
