In an attempt to improve and provide health services, especially in the far-flung areas in the State, Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) introduced three more Swaasth Vahan or Mobile Medical Units (MMU) on Tuesday.
Notably, the first such MMU was launched in TTAADC headquarters Khumulwng and two others were launched in North Tripura and Tuikarma areas in recent days.
Chairman of the Advisory Committee and Executive Member of TTAADC, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma flagged off three more Mobile Medical Units (MMU) health clinics today in presence of CEM Purno Chandra Jamatia, EM Health Kamal Kaloi, CEO CK Jamatia, and other senior executives and leaders of TIPRA Motha during a program at the royal palace in Agartala.
Speaking to reporters Debbarma, also the TIPRA Motha chairman, said the initiative has been launched so that poor people of the remote areas of the state need not suffer or travel long distances and incur huge expenses for availing health care services. The health mobile vans will provide healthcare services at their doorstep.
The MMUs have been designed in collaboration and suggestions of the Apollo hospital which jointly operates with the TTAADC at the Khiringba hospital at Khumulwng under West Tripura.
The mobile units are equipped with the latest medical equipment as well as a qualified doctor, nurse and technician will also be in the MMUs so that the patients get immediate diagnosis and treatment along with free medication.
The MMU has facilities for the detection of cervical cancer, ECG for cardiac patients, eye testing, blood sugar testing, and blood tests for malaria and dengue.
Moreover, the mobile vans also have satellite link connectivity facilities for direct connection with the Apollo centres across the country and sitting in remote areas can directly consult with the available best and specialist doctors of Apollo Hospital at Chennai and Hyderabad and if necessary these units can also transport patients like ambulances.
