If related to the customary laws, the UCC should preserve and protect the customary laws of the indigenous people of Tripura and the ST people across the North East Region.

Pradyot Kishore went to Delhi where he held a meeting with Union Minister Amit Shah recently. Focusing on the discussions, he said, “We talked about our constitutional solution for our Tiprasas by constituting ‘Greater Tipraland’ within the ambit of the Indian Constitution".

He added, During the last 70 years, our Tiprasas of Tripura is struggling a lot. The IPFT party which is in the State government, has done nothing for them.”

He added that the TIPRA Motha party would not compromise with the demand for ‘Greater Tipraland’.

The TIPRA Motha Party supremo said, “We also have our demand for the introduction of Roman script for the Kokbarok language and the Union Home Minister is aware of this".

He continued saying, "There was also an issue of interlocutor as was assured by Amit Shah, but we are no more stuck with that of the interlocutor issue rather we are to press for the demand of the creation of Greater Tipraland which itself would be a constitutional solution for our Tiprasas.”

“We shall decide on being a part of the government only after our demand for Greater Tipraland is met by the Government of India,” he told reporters.
