Train mows down 2 youth

Two persons came under the wheels of Sabroom-Agartala train and died at Kalachhara-Julaibari rail track in South Tripura. The deceased were identified as Sankar Tripura (24) of Haoaibari and Mongkaroi Tripura (23) of Bhuratali. According to rail sources, both fell in deep sleep on the track last night. The driver of the Agartala bound train blew the horn several times in a desperate attempt to save the youth. However, they were in deep sleep and ran over. MLA Prabhat Chowdhury went to deceased persons' houses and condoled.

It is learnt, as part of the Garia Puja celebration, a group of around 100 indigenous people reached to locals’ residences with Garia Idol. Sankar and Mongkaroi were also in that group – but somehow, they fell behind. Later, out of fatigue, they fell asleep on track, sources said.

Road Mishap: 2 dead

In a tragic road accident, one housewife died near Tripura University on Friday. It is learnt, she along with her husband Indrajit Biswas was coming towards Agartala on a bike. Near the University, another vehicle hit the bike and on impact, the housewife fell from the bike and died. The couple hail from Banikya Choumuhani area in Agartala.

In a separate incident, one 65-year old elderly woman, Bela Rani Das died after being bike a speeding bike at Baganbazar area in Kalyanpur. Locals said, a speeding bike hit her at Baganbazar area on Thursday. Local people took her to Kalyanpur Hospital. However, as she sustained serious injuries, she was referred to Khowai District Hospital from there to GB Hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries today.

Engg found dead in Agartala

One Mamun Das, an Engineer by profession was found injured in his car today early morning and was declared ‘brought dead' after being taken to GB Hospital. He hailed from Debendra Lane at Border Golchakkar in Agartala. It is leant, Mamun along his friends were at his residence till late last night. Later, he and his other friends went to drop one of his friends in his car. Family sources said, Mamun was in touch with family members till early morning through his phone. However, he did not respond to any calls after 4am. Later, someone called the family members and told them that Mamun fell asleep in his car. As Mamun’s father reached the spot, he found blood was oozing out of the mouth of Mamun and he took Mamun to GB Hospital where the doctor declared him brought dead.
