Trinamool Congress announces candidates for June 23 Assembly bypolls

All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Tripura unit announced its candidate lists on Friday for June 23 bypolls to be held in four Assembly Constituencies in Tripura.

After the announcement, the candidates have also submitted their nominations for the two seats - Agartala and Bordowali under West Tripura district today.

The Trinamool Congress fielded Panna Dev in 6 Agartala Assembly constituency, Neel Kamal Saha was named as the candidate for the 8 Town Bordowali Assembly seat. Arjun Sarkar has been nominated as the candidate for 47 Surama  and Dr. Mrinal Kanti Debnath has been nominated as Trinamool candidate for 57 Jubarajnagar seat. 

On the same day, Panna Dev, the TMC candidate for Agartala constituency and Neel Kamal Saha, the candidate for Bordowali constituency submitted their nominations to the Returning Officer.

AITC Tripura president Subal Bhowmik and Trinamool Congress MP Sushmita Deb took part in a rally prior to nomination submission. 

Subal Bhowmik said he is optimistic about party's victory. Speaking to the media, Sushmita Dev claimed Tripura has not changed as expected during the incumbent BJP regime. 

She exuded confidence that The Trinamool Congress would meet people's expectation, if voted to power. 

She claimed the Trinamool Congress is BJP's only alternative and it was proved in the elections in West Bengal.

Sushmita Dev said the Trinamool Congress is in power for three successive terms for the good governance of Mamata Banerjee. 

She added, the good governance like West Bengal will be established in Tripura under the leadership of Mamata. To put it bluntly, the people of Tripura are aware of the role of the National Congress and voting for the Congress means bringing the BJP back to power. Dev appealed to the people to ensure victory for the Trinamool candidates in the by-elections.
