Tripura ADC Polls: Eminent winners, losers

 

TIPRA Motha chairman wins

Chairman of TIPRA Motha Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has won from 18-Takarjala-Jampuijala seat. He defeated his nearest rival Brajalal Debbarma of IPFT. While Pradyot Kishore Debbarma polled 13461 while Brajalal got only 2767 votes. Pradyot Kishore Debbarma will hold a meeting with party leaders on Sunday and later expected to stake claim to form the Council in ADC.       

 

INPT supremo loses

INPT supremo Bijoy Kumar Hranghkwal failed to secure a victory in his constituency--4 Karamcherra for a margin of 375 votes. His competitor, BJP candidate Bimal Kanti Chakma secured victory. Although Hrwangkwal was projected as a heavyweight candidate from TIPRA-INPT alliance, NOTA and one JDU candidate played a crucial role in restricting some votes from going his side.   

 

Ex-CEM Radhacharan of CPM loses

Former Chief Executive member Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council Radhacharan Debbarma failed to retain his basion Jirania to his close competitor and INPT General Secretary Jagadish Debbarma. INPT contested in altogether five seats after stitching an alliance with the TIPRA but succeeded in winning one seat only. 

 

Journalist turned Politician wins

TIPRA Motha nominated Kamal Kaloi, a journalist from 11-Maharanipur-Teliamura constituency against IPFT nominated Gita Debbarma. Notably, Debbarma is the wife of IPFT general secretary Mevar Kumar Jamatia. However, Journalist turned politician Kamal Kaloi had the last laugh as Kaloi defeated Debbarma by more than 10,000 votes.
