Tripura :Centre approves fund for NH-44A; BJP-IPFT candidate attacked; Rape case: One held

# Central Government approves over Rs 354 for NH-44A up-gradation in Tripura. # BJP-IPFT candidate for the ensuing TTAADC elections Shyamal Debbarma came under attack. # A person identified as Sanjib Naha had been arrested on Saturday on rape charges.

Fund approved for NH-44A in Tripura

The Union Government has approved the up-gradation of a stretch of NH-44A in Vangmun area in Tripura. Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari said this in one of his social media posts. The stretch of NH-44A from Vangmun-Simlung section got the central approval of being converted into a two-lane road.

Gadkari tweeted, “For Tripura – Rehabilitation and up-gradation of a section of road from Vangmun-Simlung section on NH-44A to two lanes in the State of Tripura has been approved with a budget of Rs. 354.70 crore”.    

TTAADC polls: BJP-IPFT candidate attacked

BJP-IPFT ruling alliance candidate for the ensuing TTAADC elections Shyamal Debbarma came under attack on Saturday while he was returning from a public meeting at Kulai Ghantacherra under Dhalai district in Tripura. According to police, some miscreants attacked the convoy of the candidate when he was coming back from a poll rally at Kulai. A group miscreants launched the attack by pelting stones and brickbats. One person sustained serious injuries during the pelting. Reacting to the attacks, candidate Shyamal Debbarman alleged that TIPRA motha leaders were behind the attacks. The injured BJP worker was moved to the hospital for treatment.  

Rape case: One held

A person identified as Sanjib Naha had been arrested on Saturday on rape charges in North Tripura. Police from Dharmanagar Women Police Station arrested  him. The victim was staying at a shelter home.

 Sources said that police filed a case against Sanjib Naha and arrested him immediately after a complaint was lodged by Superintendent of Sanghadip Child Care Rakhi Choudhury.

Charges under Sections 376 (2)(N) of IPC and Section 4 of POCSO Act were implicated against the accused Naha.  The accused used to work at a Jewelry shop at D.L. Market and staying at a rented house at  Nayapara.

The victim girl was staying at the house adjacent to his shop along with her mother.  The girl alleged that the accused had raped her several times in the last one year.
 

The helpless minor girl sought help from CHILDLINE.  Then CHILDLINE sent the girl to Sanghadip Child Care.  Meanwhile the girl described the incident to the Home authority. On being informed Superintendent Rakhi Choudhury filed a case at police station against the accused youth.
