In an effort to improve the electricity supply in Tripura, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha conducted a thorough review meeting of the state's power department on Wednesday.
During the meeting, he issued directives to expedite both central and state government projects, all aimed at ensuring an uninterrupted and reliable power supply throughout the state.
Dr. Saha highlighted that the government has undertaken a series of strategic measures to elevate the quality of electricity services in the region. The Chief Minister placed particular emphasis on the swift deployment of advanced transformers, a move that would significantly contribute to the provision of seamless power services.
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of promoting responsible electricity consumption among users. He urged electricity consumers to be conscious of wastage and encouraged them to inform the department before escalating their electricity usage.
Dr. Saha additionally called upon department officials to proactively raise awareness on this matter and conduct regular monitoring. He emphasized the need for bolstering billing and collection agencies to ensure that outstanding bills are settled promptly and unauthorized hook lines are dealt with firmly across various parts of the state.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Saha urged the power department to take a proactive and prioritized role in implementing solar power systems within hospitals such as GB Pant, IGM, and TMC. This initiative aligns with the state's broader renewable energy goals.
Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, present at the review meeting, underscored the ongoing efforts to integrate solar power into the state's energy landscape. He mentioned that eight villages across eight districts have already been identified for immediate solar power integration. The Power Minister further unveiled an ambitious plan to eventually bring all Village Panchayats under the ambit of solar energy.
The high-level review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Industry Department Secretary Abhishek Chandra, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Secretary Aporba Roy, Managing Director of TSECL Debashis Sarkar, and several other senior officials from the power department.
