Tripura CM drives efforts to transform tourism into alternative economy

In a bid to transform the tourism sector into a thriving alternative economy, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced a range of multi-faceted plans during a thorough review of the industry.

With a strong focus on enhancing the appeal of tourist destinations, the state government aims to attract more visitors and bolster the sector's potential.

During the review, Chief Minister Saha underscored the importance of making all tourist spots more captivating, urging officials to prioritize aesthetic improvements.

He also emphasized the need for robust security arrangements at these locations and called for the strengthening of tourist guide services.

Additionally, the introduction of homestay facilities near tourist sites was identified as a key initiative to enhance visitor experiences.

Highlighting the efforts to develop the tourism sector, Tourism Secretary U.K. Chakma elaborated on the newly introduced facilities and future plans. The aim is to create an environment conducive to the growth and prosperity of the tourism industry.

In another review session, Chief Minister Saha turned his attention to the Transport department. He urged officials to collaborate closely with the Traffic unit to ensure road safety and mitigate the occurrence of road accidents.

The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of adhering to guidelines while affixing number plates on vehicles, including two-wheelers.

Minister for Tourism and Transport, Sushanta Chowdhury, expressed his appreciation for the Chief Minister's valuable guidance in improving the efficiency of the transportation and tourism sectors.

He emphasized the collective effort required from all stakeholders and highlighted the role of the Transport and Tourism Department in achieving these objectives.

The review meetings, held at the Secretariat, were attended by Principal Secretary Puneet Agarwal, Secretary P.K. Chakraborty, and other officials.

In addition to the discussions on tourism and transportation, the Chief Minister presided over a review meeting of the Department of Food and Consumer Affairs.

During this meeting, he obtained crucial information about the stock of essential products and offered guidance to ensure the smooth operation of the ongoing rationing system. This proactive approach reflects the government's commitment to serving the needs of the most vulnerable members of society.
