Dr Sridevi Padmanavan, IOS secretary, said that oral cancer has been on the rise and constitutes about 40 percent of all forms of cancer in our country. Around 30 per cent of them stem from the use of tobacco. She also said that IDA organizes regular health talks, check-up camps.

Earlier, there were no orthodontist in Tripura and children with teeth alignment problem had to go to other states. As it involved huge expenses, most of the affected children and their families couldn’t avail of the benefits of Orthodontic treatment, Dr Saha commented.

“Now, we have a couple of Orthodontists in Tripura who are providing services to the patients”, he said.

In this connection Dr Saha also said the Tripura Govt is working to set up a Dental College in the State.
