Tripura CM opens 87th Police Station, calls for collective effort against drugs
In a move aimed at enhancing public safety and bolstering the fight against crime and drug-related issues, Chief Minister of Tripura Prof. Dr. Manik Saha reiterated on Thursday that the state government is taking proactive measures to strengthen the police force in the region. The statement came as the Chief Minister officially inaugurated the Bagbasa Police Station, formerly known as Bagbasa Outpost in the North Tripura District on Thursday.
Dr. Saha emphasized the crucial role of law and order in fostering development within Tripura. He asserted, "The law and order system in Tripura is currently in a very good position. One of the conditions for development is better law and order. If law and order is normal, investors from outside will come to the state. As the law and order system of the state is in place, the 2023 Tripura Assembly Elections can be conducted completely peacefully and smoothly." He went on to highlight the government's dedication to expanding police resources in order to combat crime and address drug-related challenges.
The newly inaugurated Bagbasa Police Station represents the 87th police station in the state and the 11th police station in the North district. Dr. Saha stressed the government's zero-tolerance stance on drug-related offenses, asserting that no individuals involved in drug trade will be exempt from strict legal consequences. Tripura has made commendable progress in terms of narcotics seizure and eradication, ranking favorably in comparison to other Northeastern regions. Nevertheless, Dr. Saha emphasized that the eradication of drugs requires a collective effort, with active involvement from all sections of society. He encouraged public awareness and the development of resistance against drug-related issues as essential components of this fight.
Dr. Saha also extended his gratitude to MLA Jadab Lal Nath for generously donating a vehicle to the Bagbasa police station as a commendable initiative.
The event was attended by key figures, including North District Magistrate Nagesh Kumar B, IG Law and Order Soumitra Dhar, and other dignitaries, underscoring the significance of this step towards bolstering security and public safety in Tripura.
