Tripura CM stresses harmony and women's empowerment at Rakhi Bandhan utsav

The Chief Minister of Tripura, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, reaffirmed the government's commitment to fostering peace and unity in the State during the celebration of Rakhi Bandhan.

The auspicious festival, which promotes sibling relationships, was inaugurated by Dr. Saha at the Ramnagar branch of Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya on Thursday.

In his address, Dr. Saha highlighted the festival's significance in reminding people of the enduring bonds and responsibilities that exist among siblings.

"From the moment of birth, individuals are bound by this special connection. Rakhi Bandhan not only fortifies the relationship between brothers and sisters, but also underscores society's duty towards every woman. Thus, the festival carries immense importance," stated Dr. Saha.

Underscoring the government's commitment to empowering and safeguarding women, Dr. Saha detailed various initiatives.

A notable 33 percent reservation for women in government positions has been established. Furthermore, the state budget has been allocated to provide free scooters to exceptional female students based on their performance in higher secondary examinations.

The Chief Minister underscored the administration's dedicated efforts towards elevating the socio-economic status of women while ensuring their protection. The Rakhi Bandhan event was attended by dignitaries, including Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Dipak Majumdar, and representatives from Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya.

It may be noted, the Chief Minister received Rakhis from the common people of different walks of life in his official residence in Agartala on Wednesday.

For the last two days, several programmes were held across the State to mark the Srabani Purnima and Rakhi Bandhan utsav.
