Tripura CM up against 'middlemen system' stalling development

Tripura Chief Minister Bipab Kumar Deb on Sunday issued a stern warning and said that his government would not tolerate any kind of corruption or existence of the “middlemen system” that was solely responsible for the stalled development.

During his address at the state Janajati Morcha executive meeting at Ambssa, he said, “those who are preventing the development of ADC areas should be brought in front of the public. The Janajati Morcha leaders should take charge and identify the “middlemen” for whom the bridges are left half done, the people who are trying to secure their share of commission in each developmental work. And, their identity should be unleashed before masses”.

Not only this, he said, the responsibility of Janajati Morcha is also to understand the problems of ADC areas. The needs and requirements of people should first be reported with the Janajati Morcha activists. And, they(Janajati Morcha) are the ones who can educate people of the hilly areas regarding government's motive and welfare programmes for the Janajati people, Jhumia and farmers, he added.

The meeting has been organized at Ambassa with a motive to enhance public relations of the party in ADC areas. Since, the polls to the autonomous district councils are just a matter of announcement, the Bharatiya Janata Party has rolled its sleeves up to canvas more and more votes to its side. BJP Janajati Morcha chief and sitting MP from the East Tripura parliamentary constituency Rebati Tripura has been working extensively in the rural areas. Even, some of the strongholds of its ally IPFT have been turned into BJP dominated areas.

Sources said, “as Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb fought day and night for the 2018 assembly elections, Rebati Tripura had been managing the ADC single handedly. Almost everyday, he has been holding courtyard meetings, meeting people and trying to solve their issues. His relentless efforts would sure bring good results for the party in the polls”.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister had also presided over a crucial review meeting at the Dhalai district. Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Barma, BJP Party state chief Mnik Saha and other notable figures of the Janajati Morcha also attended the function.
