In view of the growing Delta-Omicron threat, Dr. Shib Sekhar Datta, Professor of Community Medicine Department at Tripura Medical College, well known for his contribution during the previous two waves of COVID has taken a brainstorming initiative and will be hosting an International webinar on 8th January 2022 with the focus of ‘Strengthening healthcare of North-East India with special emphasis on 3rd wave of COVID (Delta- Omicron)’.
Speaking to Tripura Times, Dr Datta said, the 3rd wave of COVID in the form of Delta-Omicron is knocking at the door. The anxiety, as well as rumours in the shadow of scientific evidence for ‘variant of concern’ in the form of Omicron, has already grasped the country.
Vaccines, in addition to the face masks, social distancing and frequent hand sanitization seem to be back among the top agenda.
The webinar aims at having a serious discussion and debate on what will be the severity of this upcoming 3rd wave and how northeast India can be better prepared for this pandemic for the third time.
Government guidelines are a must follow. However, we need to discuss more and look into a bigger picture to be more aware to protect ourselves and the society at large.
