Tripura Gets Boost for Rural Connectivity Under PM-JANMAN : 42 roads spanning 118 km sanctioned

The Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned the construction of 42 roads in Tripura spanning a total of 118.756 kilometers. An estimated Rs 114.32 crore would be invested for this purpose.

A PIB Press Release read, “To strengthen rural connectivity and accelerate economic growth in the North-Eastern region, the Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned 42 roads measuring 118.756 km under the connectivity component of Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), with an estimated investment of Rs. 114.32 crore, to the State of Tripura”.

The newly sanctioned roads are expected to be a game-changer for Tripura’s rural landscape. The project will provide durable, all-weather road connectivity to 47 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) habitations within the state. This development is expected to significantly improve access to remote areas and enhance the socio-economic conditions of the PVTGs living in Tripura. Better roads will enable smoother movement of goods and people, facilitating economic activities.

Enhanced connectivity in rural areas will help bridge the gap between remote villages and urban centers, fostering a more integrated economy. This is crucial for ensuring that the benefits of development reach even the most isolated communities. Improved infrastructure will stimulate the region's economic development, trade, and commerce, enabling local businesses to flourish and create new trade opportunities.

The new roads will improve access to essential healthcare, education, and markets. Residents of remote villages will find it easier to reach hospitals, schools, and marketplaces, enhancing their quality of life. The construction and maintenance of these roads will create employment opportunities, both during and after the completion of the projects. This will help stimulate local economies and reduce unemployment rates in the region.

This initiative aligns with the government's broader vision of a prosperous Northeast and a developed India (Viksit Bharat). By focusing on inclusive development, the government is ensuring that all regions of the country progress together.

The projects under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN)  will have a transformative impact on the region, contributing to the growth and prosperity of the Tribal Groups in North-Eastern region and cementing the government's commitment to inclusive development.
