Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone of the Integrated Public Health Laboratory under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission at Sonamura Subdivisional Hospital in Tripura on Sunday.
He also virtually inaugurated the Integrated Public Health Laboratories at South Tripura District Hospital at Santirbazar and Dhalai District Hospital.
Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of State for Health Professor S. P. Singh Baghel, and Union Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar were present at the virtual event in Rajkot.
In his address, the Prime Minister said the number of AIIMS hospitals in the country is also being increased. He said that the health sector has undergone a radical transformation in the last 10 years.
PM Modi also said, 10 years ago, there were 380-390 medical colleges in the country. Now, there are 706 medical colleges in the country. The Prime Minister said that now more than 1 lakh students are getting the opportunity to study MBBS every year.
It is noteworthy that the Integrated Public Health Laboratory will provide for rapid testing, disease detection, and management of disease outbreaks.
This will lead to the development of disease surveillance and treatment services at the district level. Initially, various laboratories will be brought under one roof. This will ensure proper treatment.
A program was organized at Sonamura Subdivisional Hospital to mark the laying of the foundation stone of the Integrated Public Health Laboratory.
The program was attended by Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik.
Speaking to the media she said the laboratory is built at a cost of Rs 1.25 crores, and will facilitate rapid testing, detection of 147 diseases.
Among others Sabhadhipati of Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Supriya Dasgupta, MLA Kishore Barman, Chairperson of Melaghar Municipality Anamika Ghosh Pal Roy and others.
At the inauguration event of the Integrated Public Health Laboratory at South District Hospital in Santirbazar today, a program was held at Mukut Auditorium in Santirbazar today.
The event was organized by the Health and Family Welfare Department, where Cooperative Minister of Tripura Sukla Charan Noatia was present.
