Tripura Sports School’s girls’ football team has showcased exceptional talent, securing their spot in the quarterfinals of the prestigious Subrata Mukherjee Cup.
The team’s relentless performance in the Subrata Mukherjee Cup tournament helped them to secure a resounding 3-0 victory over the formidable Mizoram side in a high-voltage Group A encounter.
The match, held at the Tejash Ground in Delhi, witnessed an intense display of football from both teams.
Tripura’s girls, however, proved to be more clinical, converting their chances effectively.
Marin Jamatia was the star of the show, netting a brace to propel her team to victory. Shriya Deb added another goal to seal the deal for Tripura.
Despite the emphatic win, the match was marred by rough play from the Mizoram side. Tripura’s Sonia Sinha and Binita Sinha suffered injuries due to the aggressive tactics employed by their opponents.
Team manager Shubhjenjit Sinha expressed his disappointment over the incident, stating, “Our girls played brilliantly, but the opposition’s rough play led to injuries. We could have won by a bigger margin had they played fair.”
The victory has propelled Tripura Sports School into the quarterfinals, where they will face the top team from Group E on August 10. Currently, Jharkhand is leading the group.
With this impressive performance, Tripura’s young footballers have captured the hearts of the state and are now eyeing a deep run in the tournament.
Football enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting their next match, hoping for another thrilling display of talent and determination.
