Tripura: Health camp at Gomati comes as a boon for rural people

A village-level Health Camp at Gomati District in Tripura has come up as a boon for the villagers of the district.

A Health Mela, organized by the Gomati District Health Authority, got huge responses from the villagers on Tuesday. Even as the Health Mela was organized, on very short notice, at the local village level, the participation of villagers in every village was noteworthy, said District Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Niru Mohan Jamatia. He added, our health workers today got inspired by the overwhelming responses from the villagers. Gomati District will henceforth organize such Mela on the 14th of every month as per the joint initiatives of the National Health Mission under the AYUSHMAN BHARAT programme and the State Health Department.

Today’s Mela was the first of this kind of initiative in the District.

Dr. Jamatia, appreciated the efforts of Community Health Officers and Multi-Purpose Workers (MPW) who arranged today’s Mela involving PRI Body members. The SDMOs and MOICs considered the Mela is an opportunity to strengthen community participation.

Dr. Arjun Saha, District Family Welfare Officer cum Dist Health Officer who is looking into the Health & Wellness Centre, told that the Mela for this month was earmarked TB Elimination and Food Safety.

“We are overwhelmed at the responses got from our health workers and also from villagers. This initiative will be further strengthened after gap filling in forthcoming months”, said Dr. Saha and added, “We are assessing the data of various services being given today. The main focus is however on the awareness part but a package of services of sample collections of cough, an important procedure to eliminate TB, haemoglobin testing, ANCs, Screening for cancer and heart diseases were mostly conducted in the camp”.
