Tripura medicos warn of post-Puja Covid-19 spurt, urges hoppers to follow Covid norms

All Tripura Government Doctors’ Association on Sunday warned people of another spurt of Covid 19 spurt in the state after the Durga Puja festival if the Covid 19 restrictions were not followed properly. The doctors’ body in its official social media page said, “About two hundred doctors, nurses and other health workers have been infected by the virus in the first phase. The death count has also steadily passed the three hundred mark. In view of this, the festive days are very crucial for us. Intensive alertness and precautionary measures must be put in place during the Puja days to avert any unwarranted rise of cases”.

“We have also observed that after the Biswakarma Puja, the situation turned very critical as Covid 19 cases recorded a big surge. The situation in Kerala after Onam and some other countries also indicated that carefree conduct of festivals had contributed to the rise of Covid 19 cases”, the organization wrote.

The organization had also mentioned that it would be a near impossible task for the limited health infrastructure of the state to tackle a big surge in cases if a situation akin to Kerala emerged here. “For the limited health infrastructure and manpower associated with the health services it will be an uphill task to control the situation if something like Kerala emerges here. The festive mood of Puja may remain dull and the enjoyment may fail to match the level of previous years, but people of the state and Puja organizers must follow each and every restrictions word by word to avert the anticipated crisis”, it wrote.

In conclusion, the ATGDA extended its greetings to the people for the ensuing Puja and requested everyone to think twice for their children and eledrely parents before venturing out for Puja hopping.
