Mizo Convention leaders on 12 December 2024 met Shri Sushanta Chowdhury, Tourism Minister at Eden Lodge, Jampui Hill and put forward certain critical points of tourism development in the Hill such as construction of Sky-walk, Tracking route, Eco-park, promotion of Thaidawr Tlâng (Betlingchhip) as nature reserve, and further re-development of Tlaksih paragliding site.
Present along the Minister during the deliberations was Shri UK Chakma, IAS, Secretary of the Tourism Department. The Mizo leaders were accompanied by Mr BC Nunga, BAC Chairman of Jampui Hill RD Block.
The discussion took place at the backdrop of the successful Tourism Promo Fest held at Vanghmun playground, Jampui Hill. The centre-point of the discussion was the concept of tourism which is: “community-based that economically benefits the local community, eco-friendly that protects and preserve the environment, and sustainable that promotes the local arts, crafts and culture.”
The Minister invites the Mizo leaders to pay a visit to him in his office after Christmas to further discuss the practical aspects of the above proposals, which the Mizo leaders gladly accept.
