Tripura News: Attempt to create communal enmity AIMDF leader booked, 2 held
Tripura Police arrested two youths in connection with a suo-moto case taken by Sonamura police following an attempt to create enmity between Hindus and Muslims and instigate ‘communal’ hatred over a mob lynching of four persons suspected to be cattle lifters. The suo-moto case was registered against two persons including the president of All India Muslims Development Forum (AIMDF) - Shakeel Hassan H three days after he allegedly tried to create a false propaganda and tried to manipulate the alleged mob lynching to a communal killing through a video uploaded in his Facebook account.
The AIMDF president is absconding. However, Tripura Police on Monday arrested the other FIR named person- Dost Mahammad, the state President of AIMDF, and another person- Momin Miah during a raid in Motinagar. They were arrested by Amtali police, he said.
The arrested persons were produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Sipahijala district and they were granted bail till August 02 next.
The AIMDF president along with associates had on July 15 last visited the houses of Jahid Hossain of Rangamatia, Billal Hossain of Srirnantapur, Saiful Islam of Bardwal and Selim Miah of Bardwal who were earlier lynched by a mob on the suspicion of cattle lifting.
According to police, during his visit to Jahid’s home, Shakkel had posted a Facebook live video from his profile to create a false propaganda by spreading communal hatred on the issue of the mob lynching. When the matter came to the attention of police, they took the suo-moto case and initiated a probe into the incident.
“Shakeel Hassan H had made the video which is full of hatred towards other religions and spreading rumour which may create serious breach of law and order problem in the area. He has violated law”, police said
The live video showed, the AIMDF leader was seen saying, “many of the BJP leaders are engaged in exporting beef from our country to other countries. And, they are killing the innocent.....”
The three persons- Jayed Hussein (30), Billal Miah (28) and Saiful Islam (18), all residents of Sonamura subdivision, were lynched by mobs in two separate places in Teliamura sub-division under Khowai district of Tripura, about 46 km from Agartala, on June 21 last
However, six persons were arrested in connection with the incident of mob lynching.
