The two-member Central medical expert team led by Dr Rabin Singh to monitor steps taken in curbing the spread of Covid19, arrived in Agartala on Monday. Notably, the Union Government decided to send medical expert teams in six States to advice concern States on reducing the Covid19 transmission.
The six States where the medical team would visit are Tripura, Kerala, Chhatisgarh, Odissa, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. Sources in State health Department said, Dr Rabin Singh along with Dr Ranganath arrived in Agartala today.
They held meetings with the high officials of the Health department to assess the emerging situation. After the meeting Dr Singh and Dr Ranganath inspected AGMC Covid unit.
According to sources, the Central team will visit other Covid care centres to understand the ground realities. Based on the input they collect during their visits and discussions with the Officials, the Central Team will suggest measures, if required, to bring the transmission under control.
Meanwhile, the Day from 2pm to 6 pm and Night curfew is continuing to be in force in the AMC areas as well as other Urban Local Body areas till July 9 next. Despite the restrictions for over a month, Covid19 situation is showing little improvement only.
On Monday, five persons died of Corona in the State. The number of infected persons is 226 persons during the past 24 hours. The overall positivity rate in the state now stands at 5.13 percent while the number of active cases is 3,488.
An official report said, the novel coronavirus killed total 694 persons with the fatality rate of 1.02 percent, so far.
A high of more than 5 per cent positivity rate is the prime concern of the Health department. Even as large scale vaccination drives are continuing and health infrastructures were improved across the State, fatality rate is hovering over one per cent.
In view of such a situation, all eyes are now focused on the Central medical team for proper guidance and advice to control the transmission.
