Tripura News: CJ of HC of Tripura emphasizes tech driven solutions for justice delivery

Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura, Akil Kureshi stressed on role of technology in the justice delivery system and said the importance of technology has become obvious during the Corona pandemic.   

 

Justice Akil Kureshi inaugurated an e-sewa Kendra in the office of the District and Sessions Court Judge of West Tripura district on Monday. The Chief Justice was accompanied by High Court Justice Shubhashis Talapatra, Justice Arindam Lodh and Justice Satya Gopal Chatterjee.

 

“Extend your arms in helping people to get justice. Stay by the side of the plights of people because we are a part of the Judiciary system. Our prime duty is to help people in accessing justice”, Justice Kureshi said.

 

Notably, e-Seva was introduced in the country in 2020 with the initiative of the Supreme Court and it was launched in the High Court of Tripura on September 23, 2020.

 

Addressing the gathering during the inauguration ceremony Chief Justice said, “Technological solutions in the justice delivery system have become inevitable in the country, especially when a pandemic brings everything to a grinding halt.

 

Expressing concern over the Covid pandemic, he said, “Corona has given us a new idea about the importance of the virtual system. Earlier, the High Court of Tripura also conducted a trial in a virtual manner. So e-service centres play a crucial role.” 

 

Meanwhile, High Court Justice Shubhashis Talapatra discussed the importance of e-service centers.

 

The e-sewa Kendra launched on Monday shall enable litigants to obtain information with respect to case status and to obtain copies of judgments and orders. The centre will also help in e-filing of cases, purchasing e-Stamp Paper/ e-payments.

 

Besides, it will facilitate in the booking of e-Mulakat appointments for meeting relatives locked in jail. Among other facilities, it will help in the disposal of traffic challan in virtual Courts as also online compounding of traffic challans and other petty offenses as and when made available.

 

e-Sewa Kendra will guide people on how to avail free legal services from District Legal Service Authority, High Court Legal Service Committee and Supreme Court Legal Service Committee.

 

It is to be noted that the previous year the e-sewa Kendra was launched in Tripura High Court and this is for the first time that the launching of the service in the Office of the District and Session Court Judge in West Tripura district is the first of its kind in the district level court.  

 

District and Sessions Judge Anshuman Debbarma,  State Law Department Secretary B Palit, Tripura Bar Association President Mrinal Kanti Biswas and lawyers were present in the inaugural ceremony on Monday.
