Tripura News: CM's Kok-Barok interview gets huge applause

Kokbarok – the language of the indigenous people of Tripura – is one of the State languages. However, prior to incumbent Chief  Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, no other Bengali speaking Chief Minister gave an interview entirely in Kokbarok. On Thursday, the Chief Minister appeared before camera and gave an interview entirely in Kok-Barok on multiple socio-politico-economic events.

To this end, Deb not just set an example, but earned huge applause from the people of the State especially Kok-Barok speaking people. He gave the interview to a Kok-Barok channel.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb is known for his fondness for indigenous culture, custom and food. He took personal interest in popularizing indigenously woven RISA – a garment of indigenous people.

Now-a-days, it has become a culture in Tripura to welcome a guest with RISA. With its vibrant colour and simple but aesthetic design, RISA is making progress in State as well as national markets – which is benefitting large number of indigenous women to become self-reliant.

With a full-fledged interview in Kok-Barok, Deb pushed his penchant for indigenous culture a step further. On earlier occasions, Deb addressed two major events in Kokborok on January 26 and August 15.

During the interview, Deb spoke on many important issues including delivery of governance during Corona pandemic. He also dwelt on newly-elected council of ADC and political clashes in rural areas.

He focused on his Government’s plan for Janajati (indigenous people) development. Drinking water supply etc also found mention in his Kok-Barok interview.

Deb chalked growth story of Tripura despite financial stress and crisis during ongoing Covid pandemic. Besides, he also dwelt on Assembly Polls scheduled to be held in 2023.
