Tripura News: Cong raises voice against petro-price hike, CAW

Tripura Pradesh Congress party picked up the petro-price hike issue and staged protest in Agartala. Women cell of Congress  also held a demonstration against Crime against women (CAW).

However, even though petro price hike is biting hard, the Congress supporters’ voice against the hike appeared to be meek due to its well known factionalism. While Tripira Congress Chief Pijush Kanti Biswas was leading the protest, other Congress leaders were absent – the absence was so stark that it would not miss people’s eyes.

Despite the infighting, Congress workers held the protest programme against unabated price rise of petro-products at Motorstand in Agartala.

Led by Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Pijush Kanti Biswas, Congress supporters raised slogans against the Modi-led Government for rising prices of petrol and diesel. Criticizing the Government, Biswas said continuous rise in petro prices has put common in great distress. With Corona pandemic, people are already in tight condition – above all, the rise in petrol and diesel prices has further put people in great distress.

Meanwhile, Mahila Congress supporters also hit the street on Wednesday with a different issue. They staged a protest programme in front of PHQ against atrocities on women – especially recent gang rape at Srinagar PS area. Agitating women supporters demanded stern actions against the rapists.

The women agitators of Congress alleged number of crimes against women had increased in the State.

It may be noted here that the eight youth were allegedly involved in the recent gang rape case and Police arrested all of them within 24 hours. Congress leaders opined, Police action in arresting the culprits must translate into such an action that miscreants would be scared to commit crimes against in future.
