Tripura News: Darchoi Village set to defeat Covid , Villagers thank Govt

With only one person spending his last day of Home Isolation, Darchoi village is upbeat about their success in keeping the second wave of Covid pandemic under control and ultimately defeating the deadly virus as no new cases were reported till report filing. Darchoi is now set to become Covid free village – thanks to the Health department especially Kumarghat CHC staff for this and the local Covid Monitoring Committee..

Detailing about the ‘war’ against corona, Lalhmangaia Darlong, the secretary of Covid Monitoring Committee (CMC) said,  “We strictly implemented Covid protocols and conducted regular sanitization. Importantly, we also ensured to vaccinate all the eligible persons. And, Kumarghat CHC Health Staff extended their full co-operation and held camps at Darchoi to inoculate the villagers. We are also grateful to the Prime Minister as well as our Chief Minister for arranging special Vax camps on June 21 and 22 last – we got a chance to inoculate those who were left out in earlier drives due to several reasons.”

Notably, after the 2nd wave of Covid pandemic hit the State, Darchoi – a small hamlet of indigenous people in Unakoti District – took preventive steps and started implementation of basic Covid protocols through its own CMC.

As a result only a few villagers – most of them came to Darchoi from other areas – got Covid infection. The CMC ensured that infected persons remain in strict isolation – as well as the CMC members ensure regular food supply, medicine supply and medical facilities, if required to concerned families.

“Our hard works have paid a rich dividend as no one died due to Covid and there is no new spread of Covid. At present only person of the village is in home isolation which will be ended within a day”, Lalhmangaia Darlong said.
