Tripura News: DWS Min asks to complete works under Jal Jivan Mission in Gomati within 5 months
Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) Minister of Tripura, Sushanta Chowdhury directed the department officials to complete works of proving water supply connection under Jal Jivan Mission to every household in Gomati District within next 5 months.
Taking part in a review meeting at Amarpur under Gomati District on Saturday, he also asked the officials to work on ‘mission mode’ for fast completion of works under Jal Jivan Mission.
Apart from the DWS officials, Sabhadhipati of Gomati Zilla Parishad Swapan Adhikari, MLAs – Ramapada Jamatia, Biplab Kumar Ghosh, Ranjit Das and Sindhu Chandra Jamatia, DM of Gomati Ravel H Kumar, chairmen of different BACs and Panchayat Samitis, SDMs and others were present in the review meeting.
“The Government is committed to ensure drinking water facility for people. The Jal Jivan Mission aims at providing the facility and works have already been started. Working on mission mode, we have to provide drinking water connection to every household under Gomati District within next five months”, Chowdhury said in the meeting.
Outlining the thrust and priority areas, the Minister directed the officials, “Emphasis in extending the benefit under the project needs to be given to marginalized and far-flung areas. Priority should be accorded in creation of water sources in the Aspirational blocks”.
As the water supply, particularly in rural areas, is connected with electricity supply, Sushanta Chowdhury advised to maintain coordination between the DWS and the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) while providing water supply connections.
