Tripura News: Emergency Credit Scheme helps MSMEs to combat Covid crisis

A whopping Rs. 231 crore has been disbursed among the MSMEs of Tripura through a Central Government scheme, Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) designed to help the MSMEs to combat the Covid induced crisis.

 

The amount was disbursed to as many as 61,649 MSME accounts in Tripura under the ECLGS, a tweet from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's office revealed on Saturday. The scheme helped to the struggling MSMEs to stay afloat in the aftermath of lockdown and Covid induced restrictions during 2020 and 2021. 

 

The Central Government launched the special scheme Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) in view of the Covid19 crisis. This aims at providing 100 percent guarantee coverage to Banks and NBFCs to enable to extend emergency credit facilities to business enterprises and MSMEs in view of Covid19 to meet their additional term loan or additional working capital requirements.  

 

"So far Rs 231 crore have been disbursed to 61,649 MSME accounts in Tripura under the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme. The loans under this scheme are 100% guaranteed by the Central Government," the tweet said.

 

A separate tweet said, under the first and second phase (April-November 2020) of Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, 94,893 MT of foodgrains have been provided to 23.73 lakh beneficiaries and 4,420 MT of pulses/chana to 5.40 lakh beneficiaries in Tripura.

 

Under third phase of PMGKAY, 12,107 MT of foodgrain was provided to 24.21 lakh beneficiaries in May 2021, 12,134 MT to 24.26 lakh beneficiaries in June, 12,126 MT to 24.25 lakh beneficiaries in July and 6,493 MT to 12.98 lakh beneficiaries in August (as on Aug 12) in Tripura, according to the tweet.
