Tripura News: Holy Cross and Pragati Vidya Bhavan to Clash in Sadar Inter-School T-20 Cricket Final

The stage is set for the final showdown of the Sadar Inter-School T-20 Cricket tournament. Holy Cross School and Pragati Vidya Bhavan have emerged victorious in their respective semi-final matches and will face each other in the grand finale on May 26 at the MB Stadium.

In the first semi-final, Holy Cross School made history by reaching the final for the first time, defeating New Hindi School by 6 runs. The match, played at the Narsinghgarh TIT ground, saw New Hindi School fall short of the target, scoring 160 runs in response to Holy Cross School’s 166 runs. The winning team’s captain, Digvijay Durant, played a stormy innings of 78 runs and was deservedly named the Man of the Match.

The second semi-final saw Pragati Vidya Bhavan secure their place in the final after defeating last year’s runners-up, Bidrohi Kavi Nazrul Vidyalaya. Thanks to Pratik Debbarma’s brilliant batting, Pragati Vidya Bhavan chased down the target of 156 runs set by Bidrohi Kavi Nazrul Vidyalaya with 18 balls to spare, losing only 4 wickets. Pratik Debbarma of the winning team remained unbeaten on 83 runs.

This victory marks Pragati Vidya Bhavan’s third qualification for the school cricket final. Having won the title twice before in 2012 and 2016 under the coaching of Nayonmoni Debbarma, the team is aiming for a hat-trick of trophy wins this year.

Both teams are looking forward to the final match, with Holy Cross School’s coach Partha Sarathi Sarkar expressing his belief that the fight will continue in the final and that Holy Cross School will emerge as the best in Sadar. On the other hand, Pragati Vidya Bhavan is aiming to make a hat-trick of trophy wins. The final match promises to be a thrilling encounter between two formidable teams.
