Tripura News: Special Covid19 vaccination drive extended up to July 31

Tripura Government will conduct special Covid19 vaccination drive till July 31 next. The special drive commenced on July 27 and was scheduled for two days only. The Government is working to ensure 100 pc immunizations to those above 18 years and above 45 years. Importantly, along with security of public heath, the Government is also ensuring livelihood and food during Covid pandemic.   

 

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this after visiting several Covid19 Vaccination centers in South Tripura and Gomati Districts on Wednesday.

 

Earlier, the state government initiated the special drive for two days- July 27 and 28 with an aim to vaccinate 100 percent eligible population. However, observing positive response from the people and active participation of common people, it is obvious the State is well poised to become the first State in the country to complete cent percent inoculation of Covid vaccine.  

 

To ensure that the Covid19 Vaccination drive attains its target, Deb visited several vaccination centres on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Chief Ministere visited Shakbari Health Sub Centre at Sabroom of South Tripura district and Kasko Sub Centre and Tentuibari Sub Centre in Gomati district today.

 

On his visit, he wrote in a social media post that there was a spontaneous response among the people following the special Covid19 vaccination campaign.

 

In his official Facebook handle, Deb wrote the special Covid19 vaccination drive is now extended for three more days up to July 31. He made an appeal to all the left-out people to take vaccines during this drive so that the state can achieve its goal of 100 percent vaccination.

 

After visiting the Tentuibari Sub-centre, Deb wrote, “The state government is working towards 100% immunization in the state through complete immunization of every one above 18 years of age. We are working towards setting an example as a fully vaccinated state by providing 100% immunization to those above 18 years of age as well as those above 45 years of age. The government has attached importance to ensuring people's livelihood, food and health security in the Covid situation”.  

 

The Chief Minister said that the special drive was aimed at vaccinating the 100 percent eligible population. According to an official report, 26.24 lakh people (18+ age groups) were eligible for vaccination against COVID19 in the state.

 

According to the official report, as many as 30,00,916 doses were administered in the state till July 26 - 22,46,487 people received the first shot and 7,54,429 people got the second shot.
