Tripura News: Two-member Commission to submit reports in 3 months on Hakan's escape

The Tripura Government has formed a Commission on Thursday to investigate the sensational escape of an under-trial international ATM hacker Hakan Zanburkhan.


Addressing a Press Conference, Law minister Ratanlal Nath said, The council of ministers has constituted a commission to probe the escape of Hakan and as decided by the cabinet, the commission was formed with two members, Justice S.C. Das (chairman), retired judge of the High court of Tripura and Dr. B.K. Kilikdar (member),  retired judicial employee.


According to the notification, the commission would inquire the facts of alleged escape of the under-trial prisoner and find out the persons responsible for such escape and also ascertain any sort of negligence in the part of deputed staff/ escort.


Nath said the Commission would complete the inquiry and submit its report along with recommendations, if any, to the state government within three months from the date they would take charge of the office.


Hakan, the under-trail prisoner, had managed to escape from the toilet of GBP hospital when he was taken from the central jail for a health check-up on July 9 last.


However, the police investigation has already revealed multiple dark sides including use of mobile phone in the jail in the sensational escape. As of now, total 11 persons were arrested in connection with this case.


Besides, the state cabinet has on Thursday passed a resolution extending thanks to the Central Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for appointing Pratima Bhowmik, the first ever resident of Tripura, as a Union Minister, Nath said.  


The state cabinet also thanked the Prime Minister for introducing the Ministry of Cooperation and congratulated Amit Shah for being appointed as the minister of the new ministry, Nath said, adding that the Ministry would play an important role for the progress of cooperatives and rural economy.
