Tripura Pradesh Cong holds dharna outside ED office in Agartala

Tripura-Pradesh-Congress-ED-Rahul-SzaritaAs part of the party’s national programme, Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders set in a dharna in front of the ED office in Agartala on Monday protesting against ED’s summon to Rahul Gandhi in connection with the National Herald case in New Delhi today.

The dharna programme was headed by party’s state president Birjit Sinha, central leader Szarita Laitphlang, veteran leader Gopal Roy and other state leaders.

Blaming the Central government, Congress leaders alleged, the Modi government is deliberately harassing Congress leaders. It is using central agencies like CBI and ED to achieve their political goals.

S Laitphlang said, “We are strongly opposing the dictatorship of BJP and protesting against the political malice of the BJP”.

Echoing the same, Birjit Sinha demanded withdrawal of the ED's notice to Rahul Gandhi. The agitators alleged, it is a part of political vendetta unleashed by the Narendra Modi government in the country.

Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman alleged the Central government hatched a conspiracy to insult Rahul Gandhi as he raised the issue of farmers' interest and unabated rise in commodity prices including petro products.

Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders also alleged the country's economy was collapsing under the Narendra Modi government. For this reason, in an attempt to divert people’s attention, the BJP government wants to arrest Rahul Gandhi by trying to frame him on false charges. Such steps are being conducted only against the opposition all over the country. Pity, there is no investigation against any leaders of the BJP government, Congress leaders alleged.

Prior to the dharna, Congress leaders and workers held a rally and marched from the Barjala Congress office to the ED office today.
