In support of the nationwide "Bharat Jodo Yatra" initiated by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Tripura Pradesh Congress conducted Padyatras (Foot Marches) across all nine organizational districts of the party in Tripura on Thursday with synchronized efforts.
The purpose of these marches was to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the launch of the yatra, which drew participation from citizens across the country.
The Padyatras were led by prominent figures within the Tripura Pradesh Congress, including Asish Kumar Saha, the president of TPCC, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, and AICC secretary Szarita Laitphlang. These marches commenced from the Pradesh Congress headquarters, situated in the Post Office Chowmani area of the capital city, and followed various routes throughout the city.
During interviews with members of the media, TPCC president Asish Saha highlighted the significant impact of Rahul Gandhi's "Bharat Jodo Yatra." Saha emphasized that this yatra, spanning over four thousand kilometers from Kanyakumari in the south to Kashmir in the north, not only fostered unity and friendship among the general public but also reinvigorated the party's activists and supporters.
He pointed out that pressing issues such as unemployment, rising essential commodity prices, cronyism, divisive policies, and national security threats posed by Chinese aggression needed prompt attention. Saha called upon people to recognize these issues and unite in opposition to the BJP government and its divisive policies.
Szarita Laitphlang, addressing reporters, underscored how the yatra had re-energized Congress workers and restored confidence among the public. She asserted that the Congress was the sole alternative capable of safeguarding the nation's democracy and integrity, characterizing the "Bharat Jodo Yatra" as a powerful response to divisive politics, political exploitation, and misadventures undertaken by the ruling BJP government at the central level and in BJP-governed states like Tripura.
A significant number of Congress members, including women and youth, actively participated in the day's rallies.
Along with other parts of the State, the Teliamura District Congress organized a rally with the slogan "Jurbe Bharat Jitbe India" to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Rahul Gandhi's "Bharat Jodo Yatra." District Congress president Shabd Kumar Jamatia, former MLA Ashok Kumar Baidya, and numerous other leaders, workers, and supporters were present during the Padyatra.
