Tripura ready to roll out Covid Vax on jan 16; Know Vax factsheet issued by MoHW

Along with the entire country, Tripura is all set to experience the historic commencement of much waited Covid19 vaccination drive on Saturday. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb will formally inaugurate the Vaccination drive in Tripura from Agartala. Vaccine drive will commence simultaneously in 17 session sites across the State and Vaccines in all the session sites have been kept under tight security.

 

Detailing about the vaccination process, State officials said, the whole process from registration of beneficiaries to observation post-vaccination will take about 45 minutes. At the entry point, vaccination officer-I will verify all the documents of the beneficiaries. On being cleared, they will come to the waiting area and wait for their turn.

 

According to the letter sent to the state government by Additional Secretary of MoHFW, Dr Manohar Agnani, IAS, only those above 18 years will be vaccinated. Pregnant women or who are not sure of their pregnancy and lactating mothers should not take the vaccine. Those with a history of bleeding or coagulation disorder will be administered the vaccine with utmost caution.


Vaccination will have to be deferred for four to eight weeks after recovery of patients with active Covid symptoms, or those who have been given plasma therapy, and those who are unwell or have been hospitalized for any other reason.

The second dose of the Covid vaccine will be administered after an interval of fourteen days. Also, interchanging Covid-19 vaccines is not allowed. Second dose should also be of the same Covid-19 vaccine which was administered as the first dose.

 

The mild adverse impacts of the Covishield vaccine could be headache, fatigue, pain in muscle, injection site tenderness, weakness, pyrexia, chills, arthralgia and nausea.

 

Very rare events of demyelinating disorders have been reported following vaccination with Covidshield Vaccine without the causal relationship establishment. As with other intermuscular injections, Covidshield should be given with caution to individuals with thrombocytopenia.
 

In the meantime, officials said, from the waiting room, they will enter the vaccination room. The rooms are equipped with stretchers to shift a patient to the ICU in case of any untoward incident post-vaccination. ECG machine, monitor and oxygen mask will be available on the spot. After receiving the vaccine, the beneficiaries will be kept under observation for 30 minutes.

 

During storage and transportation of the vaccines, temperatures should be maintained at +20 C to +80 C at all levels. If vaccine vials are found to be ‘frozen’ or ‘frozen and thawed’ it should be discarded. Also if the solution in vials is discoloured or visible particles are observed, the vials should be discarded.
