Tripura Vows Uninterrupted Power: Improved Services and actions against Overloading

The Electricity Department of Tripura is working diligently to ensure an uninterrupted power supply to consumers across the state. In addition to the existing call center number 1912, the department has introduced a WhatsApp number (9863596081), the Bijli Bandhu app, and a website to address various electricity-related issues promptly, said Power Minister of Tripura Ratan Lal Nath and urged consumers to make greater use of these facilities.

Recognizing that Agartala City has the highest electricity consumption in the state, a new call center number, 6033132082, has been launched exclusively for electricity consumers in Agartala 1st Circle. This number, along with 1912, will provide 24-hour service to consumers in the following areas: Bonamalipur, Bardowali, IGM, Jogendranagar, Pratapgarh, Amtali, Sekerkot, GB, Capital Complex, and Durjoynagar.

The Minister while addressing a press conference in Agartala on Sunday said, while the state is free from load shedding, there have been occasional power cuts. He attributed these disruptions to the excessive use of air conditioners and refrigerators during the sweltering summer months. Consumers are often negligent in informing the Electricity Department about their increased AC usage, leading to overloading and damage to transformers and other electrical equipment.

The Power Minister urged consumers to obtain prior approval from the Electricity Department for any additional electricity consumption within the next ten days. Failure to comply will result in action under Sections 163 and 126 of the Indian Electricity Act, 2003.

Nath who also hold the Agriculture portfolio said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute Rs 20,000 crore on June 18 to farmers across the country under the 17th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

This will directly deposit Rs 48.95 crore into the bank accounts of 2 lakh 52 thousand 907 farmers in the state, the Minister said and added, since the inception of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in December 2018, a total of 11 crore farmers have been benefitted across the country, including nearly 3 crore women farmers. By the 16th installment, 2 lakh 52 thousand 107 farmers in Tripura have received a total of Rs 687 crore 43 lakh.
