Two-day 9th Annual Judicial Conclave begins in Agartala

The 9th Annual Judicial Conclave, a two-day event, commenced on Saturday (March 25) at the Tripura Judicial Academy's auditorium located in Agartala Narsingar.

 

The Tripura Judicial Academy under the aegis of the High Court of Tripura has organized the Conclave to enhance the overall development of the judiciary and legal system. The acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura, Justice T Amarnath Gaur, inaugurated the conclave in the presence of various dignitaries including Judge of High Court of Tripura Justice Arindam Lodh, state Chief Secretary J K Sinha, Advocate of the Supreme Court Sujit Ghosh, former Director of National Judicial Academy Professor (Dr) G Mohan Gopal, Deputy Director General of National Informatics Center Sharmistha Dasgupta and others.

 

During his address at the inauguration, Justice T Amarnath Gaur stated that the two-day conclave would focus on the problems, needs, and challenges faced by the judiciary. In his address, the president of the Tripura High Court Bar Association, Advocate Purushottom Ray Barman, emphasized the importance of delivering legal rights more appropriately to the common people.

 

The conclave featured the release of the Annual Report of the Tripura High Court for the financial year 2022-23.

 

After the inaugural session, business sessions started. Advocate of the Supreme Court Sujit Ghosh led a thorough discussion on the topics of ‘Constitutional Transformation, Constitutional Silence, and Constitutional Morality’.  

 

The business session also included discussions on ‘Conflict between Legislature and Judiciary with Special Reference to Judicial Activism’ – in which Prof (Dr) G Mohan Gopal was the speaker and Sharmistha Dasgupta spoke on ‘Artificial Intelligence in the Justice Delivery System’.

 

The Tripura Bar Council Chairman Ratan Dutta, Law Secretary Biswajit Palit, Tripura High Court Registrar General V Pandey, judges from various sub-divisional and district courts of the state, lawyers, and law college students were present in the programme.

 

The two-day Conclave will come to an end Sunday (March 26) after the felicitation of dignitaries and a ‘General Interaction with the Judicial Officers’, followed by a valedictory programme.  Judge of the Supreme Court of India Justice Sanjoy Karol along with acting Chief Justice of High Court of Tripura Justice T Amarnath Goud and Judge of High Court of Tripura Justice Arindam Lodh shall remain present in the ‘General interaction with the Judicial officers’ programme.

 

After the interaction session, the valedictory session will begin. Justice T Amarnath Goud will address the session.
