Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman flagged off the second solar-equipped Mobile Banking Van, popularly known as ‘TGB on Wheels’, at Itanagar on Tuesday. This is the second such van of the Tripura Gramin Bank. With the support of NABARD, TGB has been able to launch this solar-equipped vehicle. Among others, TGB chairman Satyendra Singh was present in the flag-off event.
“TGB on Wheels” comprises a Mobile ATM & Banking Correspondent Service which is fully operated through Solar Power.

Notably, the Finance Minister inaugurated Northeast’s first solar-equipped mobile ATM Van of the Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) during her Tripura visit in July 2023. In her address on the occasion, Sitharaman lauded the efforts of the banks towards Viksit Bharat.
The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman participated in two Credit Outreach Programmes in Itanagar and Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh, today.
The programme at Itanagar was also attended by Pema Khandu, Chief Minister, and Chowna Mein, Deputy Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh, M. Nagaraju, Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), alongwith senior officials from the Central and State Governments, and the heads of SBI, PNB, NABARD and SIDBI.
Besides, Some other programs were also being conducted such as Distribution of Sanction letters to the beneficiaries, Launch of Micro Enterprise Promotion Program (MEPP) in two districts of Arunachal Pradesh, Inauguration of Credit Linkage Financial inclusion & Rural innovative & Farm sector promotion project, Flagging OFF Ambulances/vehicles donated by PNB, SBI, NABARD, SIDBI, etc.
In her address on the occasion, Sitharaman lauded the efforts of the banks towards Viksit Bharat and encouraged them to prioritise the financial upliftment of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Union Finance Minister underscored the need for greater access to banking facilities, such as banking correspondents and additional bank branches, to enhance financial inclusion throughout the state. This increased access will support new business ventures, allowing the people of Arunachal Pradesh to prosper and thrive.
