Veteran Leader of Jampui Hill in Tripura, Lianzuala Sailo no more

The Mizo community of Tripura in general and of Jampui Hills, in particular, are going through bereavement as Lianzuala Sailo, veteran leader of the Mizo community breathed his last today 21 Nov 2022 at 4 AM after battling with a prolonged illness at his residence in Sabual Village, Jampui Hill. He was 85 years old.
Sailo was a formal MDC in the TTAADC during the period from 1982-1985, elected under the TUJS ticket. He also was a formal official MLA candidate of the Forward Block Party in 1972 which he unfortunately lost.
He also served the Mizo and indigenous communities in various capacities, including as President of Jampui Hill Mizo Convention during 1991-1999. The deceased leader was multilingual and spoke Mizo, English, Kokborok, Kaubru and Bangla.
The Mizo Convention, in their official obituary released to the press by their General Secretary, Dr Zairemthiama Pachuau mentions that "It's an irreplaceable loss not only for the Mizo community of Tripura but also for all the indigenous communities and also for the state of Tripura."
