In Pathankot airbase 5th terrorist has been killed by the security forces and operation is still going on. This has been declared a short while from now in a press briefing at air base by the senior officer of National Security Guard (NSG). He said operation will continue.

Earlier during the day officers briefed that two terrorists are still holed up in building. During the day the building was bombed by the security forces targeting the terrorists. The blast was followed by the sound of gunfire. He said all equipment and fighter aircraft and major combat equipment are safe.

Meanwhile, National Investigation Agency(NIA) today registered a case to probe the conspiracy of Pakistan-based terrorist group, believed to be Jaish-e-Mohammed, behind the strike at the Air Force base in Pathankot. The case was initially registered by local police station that was transferred and handed over to the NIA. Official sources said the agency registered the case under various sections of IPC, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and Arms Act against unknown persons.

A team of NIA was at the spot since Saturday as per the standard operating procedure. As per procedure, the agency rushes its team to the terror attack site so that it can share its expertise as well as have first-hand information about the case. Apart from that, the Home Ministry has asked the BSF to submit a report on the breach by terrorists who sneaked into India and carried out terror strike in Pathankot. Sources said it has asked the BSF, which guards the international border with Pakistan, to explain how heavily armed terrorists could enter India from across the border.

On the other hand, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval’s visit to China from tomorrow for talks with top Chinese leaders has been put off in the wake of the attack on the key Air Force base in Pathankot. The visit has been put off due to scheduling problems, Chinese Foreign Ministry official told PTI today. Indian officials said Doval’s visit will be rescheduled as he is preoccupied with the handling of the Pathankot incident.

Doval, who is also the Special Representative for Sino-India boundary talks, was due to leave tomorrow on a two-day visit during which he was scheduled to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi on key bilateral issues, including the border dispute. He was also due to meet Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday.
