Feb 06, 2017: While replying to the discussion on Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in Lok Sabha today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi focused upon a host of issues including demonetization move, failures of Opposition Parties, Benami Property Law, Swachcha Bharat etc. In his speech, he recited several poetries targeting the Opposition, mainly Congress. Among these, one of poetries was hugely applauded by a group of young people in Agartala.

Uddhamain hi siddhyanti karayani na manorathe.

Na hi suptasya sinhasya pravishyanti mukhe mriga .

This roughly means that any work can be accomplished through enterprise and not intentions alone. A deer does not enter into the mouth of a lion.

This comment is hallmark of today’s speech by the Prime Minister, said a Biswajit Majumder of Tripura Central University. “As a student I often dream to do well in exams, but from today I’ll not only dream, I have got the inspiration from his speech to work hard to achieve my dreams”, he commented.

A College Swapan Debbarma too echoed the similar sentiment and said, PM used this verse to convey the message that earlier Congress Government too planned some good schemes, but lagged necessary dynamism and initiatives to properly implement the schemes. Modi’s vision is very much inspiring, Swapan commented.

Both Biswajit and Swapan were part of a group of young guys gather before an electronics shop which was transmitting PM’s Speech.

“I have heard that PM delivered a good and encouraging speech, however, I could not listen it as the time was odd for me”, said a mason at Motorstand area in Agartala and added to read it in tomorrow’s newspapers. In fact many people missed the chance to listen to PM’s speech directly because of timings, however, a good number of people when contacted by ProMASS Correspondents, expressed curiosity to know details of PM’s speech.

A SBI bank employee, on condition of anonymity said, we were burdened with works, so could not listen to PM’s reply to Motion of Thanks on President’s address, but my wife watched TV briefed me. During lunch break, we the colleagues discussed about PM’s speech and found it very much inspiring and thought provoking from political, social and economic points of view, he said.

It will be unwise to say that everyone was happy with PM’s speech. Apart from Political personalities, couple of small vendors and vegetable sellers have commented, we are struggling hard to earn our livelihoods; we are not much interested to know what he or our politicians talk about. We are still suffering due to scrapping Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.

While despondency among these marginal people was visible, it was also obvious that they are expecting a turnaround sooner or later. “No matter what he says in Parliament, the reality only matters to us”, said a small fruit vendor, Tinku Das of Maharaj Gunj Bazar.  Tinku’s statement reaffirms that hard work instead of mere good plans by the Government is what poorer section of the society is looking for – in fact this is what PM Modi too emphasised.
