WB Govt declassifies Netaji related files

The West Bengal Government on Sep 18, 2015 declassified 64 files pertaining to the last days of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, one of the foremost freedom fighters of India. The files which trace the history of Netaji’s life between 1937 and 1947 were released into the public domain by the Kolkata Police Chief Mr Surojit Kar Pura Kayasto at a ceremony at the Kolkata Police Museum this morning.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee demanded that the Centre should also declassify 130 files it has with it on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

She said, We maintain always the transparency, accountability, credentials and the credibility that we must know the truth and truth must come out. Why we should be worried and why we should hurry the things. Let it come out today or tomorrow it will come out, like this today we started thing it is the beginning. Let the Central Government also disclose a file.

The Congress has demanded the Centre to declassify the files relating to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Briefing the reporters in New Delhi this evening, party spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed said, truth will come out if the Centre will disclafy the files. Mr Ahmed welcomed the decision of the West Bengal government of declassification of the files today. He said it will help in preventing selective leaks and rumour.

Reacting on it, the BJP  today said, the Centre is concerned about  the files related to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. On the issue of declassification of 64  files on Netaji by West Bengal Government, party spokesperson M J Akbar told AIR that Prime Minister Narendra Modi have met twice the family members of Subhas Chandra Bose in this regard. He said, a committee has been formed to examine the whole complexity of the issue.

M J Akbar said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been concened with this very complex issue, he has met members of the boss’ family more than once on the subject. He has appointed a committee to look into this very complex matter. Whatever decision he takes after the committee submits the report will be taken in the national interest.
