Congress party’s victory in Karnataka polls was cheered by the opposition parties in Tripura, especially the Congress and the CPIM.
Leaders of both parties lauded the triumph of the Congress party over the BJP in the Karnataka Assembly elections for which counting was completed on Saturday (May 13).
The Congress and CPIM leaders seized this opportunity to assert that the BJP is bound to face similar defeats in the forthcoming assembly polls.
Notably, the Congress and CPIM forged seat adjustment against the BJP in Tripura in the 2023 Assembly polls in BJP retained the power.
Reacting to the Congress party’s victory in Karnataka, Jitendra Choudhury, the State Secretary of the CPIM, remarked that the people of Karnataka had rejected the popular notion associated with the BJP, namely “Modi hai to mumkin hai” (If Modi is there, anything is possible), thereby debunking the much hyped “Modi magic.”
Choudhury further pointed out that the people of Tripura had already demonstrated their waning support for the BJP during the previous state assembly elections, as 60 percent of voters did not choose the BJP.
He extended his congratulations to the Congress for its triumph in Karnataka, emphasizing that the victory held immense significance not only for the party but also for the nation’s democracy and secularism.
Adding to the chorus of opposition voices, Birajit Sinha, the president of Tripura Pradesh Congress, commented on the party’s victory in the Karnataka polls, highlighting that the victory underscored the South Indian population’s rejection of divisive politics.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Tripura Pradesh Congress, Sinha thanked the people of Karnataka for catapulting the party to power.
He confidently asserted that the BJP would face defeat in all five states scheduled for upcoming assembly elections. Sinha believed that this victory would instill confidence among opposition leaders and activists in Tripura, further fueling their aspirations.
With opposition parties in Tripura rallying around the Congress’ success in Karnataka, it is evident that the opposition leaders perceive this outcome as a turning point in their fight against the ruling BJP.
