Opposition leader and CPIM Politburo member Manik Sarkar slammed BJP on several issues including unemployment and MNREGA wages. He also came down heavily on Pradyot Kishore Debbarma who urged all the indigenous regional parties to forge an alliance for ‘greater Tipraland’.
Speaking at a programme organized by the Youth wings of CPIM of Tripura unit, DYFI and TYF, Manik Sarkar criticized the BJP-led government and said, there are many posts lying vacant in different Government departments, but there incumbent BJP Government is not taking initiative to fulfill the vacant posts. Sarkar continued and said, as many as 400 plus unemployed MBBS degree holders are sitting idle whereas health centers are facing manpower crisis.
“The situation turned so worse that more than 400 MBBS students were sitting idle at their homes. The Chief Minister refused to meet them and when they somehow managed to meet the health secretary, they were advised to open nursing homes and private chambers whereas in hospitals the crisis of doctors was obvious”, said Manik.
He also demanded a monthly allowance of Rs 5000 to unemployed youth till they get an offer for a job. Sarkar also raised the issue of 10323 retrenched teachers and demanded a permanent solution for them.
The Opposition leader also fired salvo at BJP government on MNREGA issue. He said, BJP promised to increase MGNREGA wages to Rs 340. They promised to assure 200 days of job and all remained in pen and paper. Today, the MGNREGA job card holders were even struggling to get 50 days of work round the year.
Manik Sarkar launched verbal tirade against Pradyot Kishore Debbarma without naming him. Referring to Pardyot Kishore Debbarma’s new initiative to bring all the regional parties including BJP’s allay IPFT under single banner with a call for greater Tipraland,
Sarkar commented, “This is just another gimmick to create division and shift people’s attention from the real issues. BJP has lost its face in the national level and IPFT that coined the term of a separate state is facing existential crisis as the young people who have been used by them have started asking questions. That is where the need of a new narrative like greater tribal land including parts of Bangladesh, Assam, Meghalaya etc. emerged.”
Sarkar also stressed on the need of enhancing public relations of the Communists in order to intensify and disseminate the flames of stir across the state.
